Will you help with my backlist, or only new releases?
Both! Whether you're launching a brand-new title or giving an older book a fresh push, Hot Off the Shelf can help. Backlist marketing is a brilliant way to keep readers discovering your earlier work, and we're just as excited about those stories as your latest release.
Do you work with traditionally published authors, or just indie/self-published?
Both! Whether you're published through a traditional house or independently, Hot Off the Shelf is here to support you. If you're traditionally published and working alongside a publisher's marketing team, we're happy to complement what's already in place.
Do you manage my social media accounts, or just create the content?
Both options are available. The standard social media service creates the graphics, captions, and content plans, all you have to do is post, so you retain full control of your accounts. However, for authors who'd prefer a more hands-off approach, full social media account management is also available. Get in touch to discuss which option suits you best.
What if I don't like a post design?
All posts include up to two amendments per graphic, so there's always room to refine things. That said, we do everything we can to get it right from the start. At the beginning of every project you'll complete a briefing questionnaire and we'll have an initial call to make sure we really understand your vision, your brand, and your audience before any design work begins. The goal is that the first draft already feels like you.
Which platforms do you create content for?
Hot Off the Shelf creates content for all major social media platforms, so whether your readers are on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, or elsewhere, we've got you covered. If you're unsure which platforms are worth your time and energy, that's something we can help you figure out too!
Do you offer ongoing retainer arrangements?
Yes, for authors who want consistent, long-term support across multiple books or ongoing social media, retainer arrangements are available. Every retainer is tailored to what you need, so the best first step is to drop an email to hello@hotofftheshelf.co.uk to chat through what that might look like for you.
What is a content plan, and do I have to buy posts too?
A content plan is a standalone strategic roadmap to help you build community and post with purpose. You can buy it on its own if you want to create the content yourself.
Can you design my author event stall/table layout?
Yes! This is explicitly part of the branding service, focused on making your table at book fairs and signings visually cohesive and memorable.
What file formats will I receive?
This depends on the service, social media posts are delivered as PNG files, while templates (whether purchased individually or included in a branding package) are supplied as editable Canva files. However, if you would like a specific format we can provide it!
Who owns the designs once the project is complete?
Hot Off the Shelf retains copyright of all work created, and you receive a licence to use everything produced for you.
